ABOUT ALEXANDER JOHNSON

MEET ALEXANDER:

I am a proud fifth-generation Riverton resident, deeply rooted in our community’s history and traditions. I attended Rose Creek Elementary, South Hills Middle School, and Riverton High School before earning my bachelor’s degree magna cum laude from Utah State University. I then received a master’s in public administration from the University of Utah, which equipped me with the knowledge and experience to navigate complex issues facing government at all levels.

From the time I could run, I participated in Riverton’s 4th of July races, a tradition that instilled in me a love for Riverton and the values that I grew up with. The sense of unity and pride I felt in my childhood into my adult years has only grown stronger, and that is why I am committed to ensuring Riverton remains the best place to live, work, and raise a family safely.

I currently serve on the Riverton Parks, Recreation, and Trails Committee and the Historic Preservation Commission, working to enhance our city’s outdoor spaces and protect our rich history. My efforts on the Historic Preservation Commission led to a successful change in city code, reducing the minimum age for homes to qualify for Riverton’s Historic Homes Register from 75 years to 50 years. This change has already encouraged more homeowners to take pride in preserving our local history, and I look forward to helping recognize these homes with official plaques in the future. I also helped coordinate the National Historic Register presentation for the Butterfield House, a beautiful Victorian eclectic-style home right off Redwood Road.

On the Parks, Recreation, and Trails Committee, I have worked to expand Riverton’s trail network, improve city parks, and promote recreational opportunities that make our community more active and family-friendly.

As Deputy District Director for Congressman Burgess Owens, I focus on community outreach, policy, and federal funding, working to ensure Utah’s 4th Congressional District gets the resources it deserves. I am proud to have helped secure over $72 million in federal funding, bringing taxpayer dollars back home to strengthen our communities.

With nearly a decade of experience in the public policy sector working in the United States Congress, including serving in a senior management role, I have gained firsthand knowledge of how to navigate complex federal issues and advocate for our constituents. I have been directly involved in authoring and supporting legislation that:

✅ Supports law enforcement and their families

✅ Cuts federal red tape that burdens small businesses

✅ Secures increased transportation funding for critical infrastructure projects on the west side of the Salt Lake Valley

Through my career, I have seen firsthand how government can either be an obstacle or a tool for progress. I believe in cutting bureaucracy, empowering local communities, and ensuring government works for the people—not against them.My diverse professional experiences have given me a deep understanding of how government functions at all levels—federal, state, and local. I believe strong leadership, responsible governance, and community-driven solutions are the key to ensuring our city thrives. Municipalities work best when they are empowered to govern without unnecessary interference from higher levels of government.

There is no place I would rather raise my family than right here in Riverton. Our community is strong, but there is more work to do to ensure Riverton remains family-friendly, business-friendly, safe, and sustainable for generations to come. If my experience in public service has taught me one thing, it’s that the people know best. I am running to be your voice on the issues that matter most to you. While I may not have the answer to every challenge facing our city, I can promise this—you will not find a stronger champion for your voice than me.

I want to build a stronger Riverton—one that honors our history, protects our families, and embraces smart growth for the future. Together, we can ensure our community remains a safe, vibrant, and thriving place for generations to come.I would be honored to earn your support.
